EUGENE, Ore. — A former pre-med student at the University of Oregon will spend time in jail for dealing drugs after another student overdosed at his campus-area apartment.

The Register-Guard reports that 25-year-old Kevin Post on Tuesday was ordered to serve 20 days in jail and two years of probation after previously pleading guilty to four felony charges, admitting that he possessed and sold both LSD and psychedelic mushrooms.

Post faced legal action after another student, Cody Bennett, overdosed and died in Post’s apartment on Jan. 19, 2014. A judge last week ruled that prosecutors failed to prove Post’s actions could be linked to Bennett’s death.

At his sentencing, Post said he was “disgusted” with himself and that he takes full responsibility for his crimes. He also said he is now drug-free.
