1. Tastes of autumn
Celebrate the harvest, autumn colors and bluegrass with a mug of cider during the annual Apple Cider Pressing at the Cedar Creek Grist Mill. This popular event features volunteers and visitors pressing about 10,000 pounds of apples into fresh cider using hand-cranked presses. Visitors can help crank the press, enjoy bluegrass performances on the back deck and tour the historic mill. The event kicks off at 9 a.m. Oct. 29 and runs until 4 p.m., or when the apples run out, at the grist mill, 43907 N.E. Grist Mill Road, Woodland. 2. Boo Ground
The annual Battle Ground Halloween Fun Fest offers a free trick-or-treat street and fright-night party for kids from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 31. Costumed children can visit shops along Main Street, east of state Highway 503, to collect candy at businesses that have a paper jack-o’-lantern in the window. Kids can trick or treat on Fourth Street, next to the Battle Ground Chamber of Commerce office. The fight-night party will be at the Battle Ground Community Center, 912 E. There’s also a bit of Spooktacular Fun from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 30. The Prevent Together: Battle Ground Prevention Alliance hosts a alcohol-free and drug-free party for Battle Ground students in the fifth through 12th grades at Bailey’s Tiger Bowl, 211 N. Parkway Ave., Battle Ground. Enjoy a free afternoon of bowling, pizza, pop and prizes, with costumes encouraged. 3. Market bids goodbye
This is the last weekend of the 2016 Vancouver Farmers Market, and the market will celebrate with some Halloween activities. There will be a mini-pumpkin giveaway and decoration station, and a costume party. On Sunday, the first 500 kids will receive Boo Bucks, $2 vouchers to spend at the market, at the information booth. Many of the seasonal vendors will be on hand with the produce, baked goods, flowers, food and crafts needed to celebrate the holiday.
