Olympia – The recent rains and cooler temperatures has moved the Department of Natural Resources to ease campfire restrictions in Western Washington.

Effective today, campfires will be allowed within approved fire pits in designated campgrounds on lands managed by DNR.

However, campfire prohibitions are still in effect on DNR-managed lands across Eastern Washington. The statewide ban on outdoor burning, such as debris or slash burning, is still in effect.

For the latest information on burn restrictions, call 800-323-BURN or visit DNR’s website for county-by-county information on fire danger and burn restrictions: fortress.wa.gov/dnr/protection/firedanger.

For more information on prohibited activities during a burn ban, go to www.dnr.wa.gov/burn-bans.
