A 34-year-old woman was shot early Monday morning in Gresham, Ore., and is in serious condition, authorities said. Police said the shooting victim is expected to survive.

Adam Baker, a police spokesman, said the woman reported being shot near Southeast 181st and Powell Boulevard in Gresham. She told police that she was “out playing ‘Pokemon Go’ ” when she was shot.

“But she didn’t have a phone,” Baker said, “so that’s very difficult to do.”

The woman also gave officers a fake name, Baker said, and “was not very forthcoming with the truth.”

Baker said the woman told police she walked to a friend’s house on Battaglia Avenue in Gresham after 2:20 a.m.

The woman wasn’t at the house when authorities arrived and responded to reports that a woman had been shot, KPTV-TV reported, but police tracked the victim down a few blocks away.

Baker said police are still investigating the shooting. He said it wasn’t immediately clear whether drugs were involved, and he wasn’t certain that the victim and alleged shooter knew each other, as KPTV reported.
