Prep highlights: Columbia River volleyball edges Camas

Columbia River held off visiting Camas in a back-and-forth volleyball match on Thursday.

The Chieftains won the first, third and fifth sets, claiming the deciding set by a 15-13 score to win the non-league contest 3-2. River also won a tight third set, 26-24.

Abby Wilmington had 13 kills, eight blocks and four aces for Columbia River, and Annika Geisler had a dozen kills. Lily Freshwater and Olivia Ayers each had 15 assists and each made eight kills. The Chieftains defense was led by Allison Frank (20 digs) and Audrey Hawthorne (17 digs).

For Camas, Aubrey Stanton had a solid all-around match with five kills, eight digs, seven assists and two aces. Keelie Leblank led the Papermakers with 12 kills and also served seven aces. Maddie Pfaff had 12 digs and five kills.

Stars of the day

• Tyler Jones, Skyview boys golf, shot a 2-under-par 35 at Tri-Mountain for medalist honors in a 158-175 team victory over Ridgefield.

• Hayden Meeker, Union boys golf, shot a 1-over-par 36 at Lewis River for medalist as the Titans shot 147 to beat Woodland and Evergreen, both with 191.

• Spencer Tibbits, Fort Vancouver boys golf, shot a 1-under-par 34 at Cedars on Salmon Creek for medalist against Battle Ground.

• Dante Heitschmidt, Prairie golf, shot a 1-over 37 at Camas Meadows for medalist honors in the match won by Camas 162-169.

• Alex Caplagui, Union boys tennis, won his second consecutive 6-0, 6-0 No. 1 singles match this week with a victory over Seth Tripp of Prairie.

• Phoebe Bunn and Olivia Forthergill, Evergreen girls soccer. Forthergill had two goals, and Bunn had a goal and two assists in a 4-3 win over Battle Ground.

• Greta DuBois, Hudson’s Bay girls soccer, scored three of her team’s four goals in the win over Benson of Portland.

• Kailey Wooten, Heritage girls soccer, scored a goal and assisted on another in the Timberwolves 5-0 win over Fort Vancouver.

• Maddie Stimmel, La Center volleyball, had 12 kills and 16 digs in a loss to Woodland.

• Payton Lindell, Washougal girls soccer, scored two goals in a 5-0 win at Columbia-White Salmon.

• Emily Johnson, Washougal volleyball, had 10 aces, 4 digs and 4 kills in a win over Stevenson.
