PORTLAND — A former Multnomah County employee says she was fired after raising questions about fiscal mismanagement.
The Oregonian/OregonLive reports that Tanya Barham, the county’s former wellness manager, has filed a lawsuit seeking $600,000 on claims of gender discrimination and whistleblower retaliation.
County spokesman David Austin declined to comment, citing county policy on pending litigation.
According to the lawsuit, Barham and her boss disagreed over her schedule and then her performance assessment focused on her appearance and dress. The lawsuit also claims she was dismissed after repeatedly voicing concerns about wasteful spending by the county’s assets and finance departments.
