Vancouver – Best-selling mystery writer J.A. Jance will do a brown-bag reading from her new book Monday at Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St., Vancouver.

Jance will discuss “Downfall” from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the first-floor Columbia Room. The book is the latest in her New York Times best-selling series featuring Cochise County Sheriff Joanna Brady.

Vancouver’s Vintage Books will be at the event with copies of Jance’s books for purchase and signing.

Jance is also the author of the J. P. Beaumont series, the Ali Reynolds series, five interrelated thrillers about the Walker family, and a volume of poetry.

Jance and her husband live in Seattle and Tucson — locales that are the settings of many of her books.

Fort Vancouver Regional Library District also will bring Newbery Award-winning author Jack Gantos to the Battle Ground Community Library, 1207 S.E. Eighth Way, Battle Ground, on Sept. 23. The event starts at 7 p.m.
