Storm-drain painting postponed to Oct. 2

The Vancouver Watersheds Alliance has postponed the storm-drain art-mural painting project that had been scheduled for Sunday. The new date is Oct. 2.

Forecasts of light rain prompted the nonprofit agency to put off its plan to put volunteer artists to work beautifying the Main Street’s storm drains. The point is to remind people to keep garbage and chemicals (like motor oil and household cleansers) out of storm drains, which connect directly with creeks, rivers and ultimately oceans.

Visit http://vancouverwatersheds.org or call 360-852-9189 if you’d like to get involved. Downtown Vancouver’s First Friday Art Walk, set for Oct. 7, will feature a self-guided walking tour of all the finished storm drain murals.
