Non-league football: La Center 41, Ridgefield 14

Whether he was leading the offense, defense, special teams — even play calling — La Center quarterback/defensive back/punter Jeremy Scott appeared to be in control Friday night.

Scott helped the Wildcats jump out to a 21-0 first half lead by noticing a flaw in the Ridgefield defensive scheme.

“I told coach (John Lambert) I would keep (the ball) because nobody was following me,” Scott said of his idea to call his own number in an uncontested naked bootleg score from 5 yards out.

“It’s really satisfying when all you have to do is run to the end zone with nobody in front of you,” Scott said.

To go along with four total touchdowns, Scott was responsible for seven offensive plays of more than 20 yards. The senior also intercepted a pass and netted impressive yardage as a punter in helping keep Ridgefield out of Wildcat territory for much of the game.
