EUGENE, Ore. — The University of Oregon plans to spend about $26 million renovating two campus halls.

The Register-Guard reports that the university will renovate Oregon and Pacific halls, adding more research laboratories to the campus. Pacific Hall is a science building. Oregon Hall is an office building that needs a new HVAC system.

After Pacific Hall’s overhaul, scientists will be able to receive federal grants for research opportunities in the 14 laboratories planned for the building. Those grants will help offset the cost of the building.

The Oregon Hall project is expected to cost $9.5 million and be completed by September 2018. The Pacific Hall renovation will cost $16.7 million and be completed in 2019, with labs opening January 2018.
