A Vancouver man who allegedly charged at another man with a knife made a first appearance Wednesday in Clark County Superior Court.

Dalton R. Shollenberger, 25, appeared on suspicion of second-degree assault stemming from the incident in Vancouver’s Rose Village neighborhood.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Shollenberger was driving shortly after 3 p.m. Sept. 11 near 33rd and P streets when Cameron Cole and his friends attempted to cross the intersection. Shollenberger verbally confronted Cole because he thought the group was in his way when they were walking across the intersection, court records said.

Shollenberger left his vehicle and ran toward Cole with a knife in his hand and pointed it in a threatening manner, the affidavit states.

During Shollenberger’s court appearance, Judge Daniel Stahnke appointed him a defense attorney and set his bail at $75,000.

He will be arraigned Sept. 29.
