Robotics team earns trip to nationals

Bagley Downs — The Vancouver iTech Preparatory robotics team is officially excellent.

The team earned the Excellence Award at the state VEX Robotics Competition, held March 11 in Ellensburg, after judges determined their work to be the best overall in all of the categories of robot design, engineering notebook, autonomous programming, driver skills, teamwork and sportsmanship.

There were 50 teams in the competition.

The award earned them a spot in the World VEX Championships, held in Louisville, Ky., April 19-25. The team is comprised of Kayl Peck, Tyson Boatman and Megan Lewis, and they are coached by Cyndy Hagan.
