A Vancouver Police Department vehicle was damaged in a hit-and-run Tuesday morning on state Highway 500 and Falk Road.

The crash, which involved three eastbound vehicles, was reported at 6:50 a.m., Trooper Will Finn said.
A 1987 Chevrolet Cavalier struck a 2008 Toyota Corolla, which was then pushed into a Vancouver Police Department detective vehicle, Washington State Patrol spokesman Will Finn said.

The driver of the Cavalier then fled the scene, taking a right on Falk Road, Finn said. The vehicle was found abandoned a short time later on Plomondon Street in Vancouver, Finn said.

The driver of the Corolla was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for back pain, Finn said. The officer was not injured.

Detectives with the state patrol are following up on the investigation into the collision. When found, Finn said, the driver could face possible felony hit-and-run charges for injuries sustained by the driver of the Corolla.

Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said that since the vehicle was for detectives, calls for service weren’t significantly impacted.
