Rocksolid Community Teen Center invites teens in the fifth through 12th grade for a “Teen Takeover” night from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at Battle Ground Community Center, 912 E. Main St., Battle Ground. Michael Wansley, better known as Wanz, will be the emcee, with music by the NW Rock Academy Band and DJ from High Fidelity. Clark College hosts “Celebracion de Mi Gente (Celebration of My People),” an evening of family-friendly activities that celebrates Latino culture and the value of literacy. The Long Beach Razor Clam Festival celebrates its native mollusk with events throughout the city April 29 and 30. Activities include clam chowder competitions, clam digging lessons, storytelling by the Oregon Mermaids, street entertainment and vendors market. Participants ages 15 and older need a license to dig, with $9.70 for a three-day razor clam license and $14.10 for an annual license. Join the annual Walk/Run for the Animals, with all event proceeds benefiting the Humane Society for Southwest Washington. There will be a 3-mile walk along the Columbia River with water stations for people and dogs. The 5K Timed Run is open to both runners and their dogs, with finishing prizes for fastest woman, man, dog and runner under 13 years old. Race day registration opens at 7:30 a.m., with the walk and run beginning at 9 a.m. May 6 in Esther Short Park, West Eighth and Columbia streets. Registration is now open for the Kids Fishing Festival at Columbia Springs, 12208 S.E. Evergreen Highway, Vancouver. The event teaches kids ages 5 to 14 how to fish, use tackle and cast a line into the trout pound with the help of fishing mentors from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 6. The event including an hour of fishing designated for children with special needs. All participants will receive a fishing pole to take home, plus other activities including a scavenger hunt and a barbecue lunch.
