Letter: Put pressure on Legislature

By Jim Schaefer, Vancouver

Here we go again; yet another overtime legislative session as our elected officials did not complete the legislative session within the allotted time. Enough! I suggest a new law that would not pay our elected officials any salaries/benefits whenever they do not complete their jobs in the allowed time to do so.

Also, I do not appreciate being one of the highest taxed states in the country regarding gas. Recent gas prices in a couple of Southern states were $2.18 per gallon while here, we were just short of $3. To make matters worse, the governor wants to add a 2.4-cent-per-mile driven tax because he is not getting enough money due to the increase in electric cars on the road.

Finally, who do you think is going to be bilked into paying for the Seattle tunnel? Excess costs were to be paid for by Seattle-King County. Not! Enough!
