Minor League baseball update No. 8 on Clark County athletes through games of Aug. 5, 2017:

Triple-A

Jeff Ames (Skyview HS), Durham Bulls (International League, Tampa Bay Rays)
Position: RHP
Season stats: 0-1, 3.86 ERA, 37 games, 2/2 saves/opportunities, 51.1 IP, 67 Ks, 30 BB, 1.48 WHIP
Recent highlights: Struck out four batters in 2 innings of relief without giving up a run in a 5-4 loss at Norfolk (Orioles) on Aug. 5. Had seven strikeouts last week with no earned runs in four innings of relief.

Double-A

Taylor Ard (Prairie HS), Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Southern League, Miami Marlins)

Recent highlights: Bit of a slump at the plate with no hits since July 26 (0 for 13).

Recent highlights: Picked up the victory at Lynchburg on July 30 with four strikeouts in two innings of middle relief at Lynchburg (Indians), then earned his fourth save of the season by getting the last two outs on one pitch vs. Salem (Red Sox) on Aug. 1.
