Fire damaged the exterior of a house in Battle Ground early Sunday morning but did not penetrate into the building itself, according to Clark County Fire District 3.

Units from Fire District 3, Clark County Fire & Rescue and the Vancouver Fire Department were dispatched at 12:43 a.m. to 806 N.W. 16th Ave., according to Battalion Chief Sean Smith.

Upon arriving, the first crews found and quickly extinguished an exterior fire on the rear of the residence. Other units were returned to their station.

Smith said the fire did not extend into the structure of the house. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Smith said residents were alerted to the fire by the sound of their smoke detectors.
