Fircrest — About 25 singing kids paraded from Cascade Park Community Library on July 20 as part of the dedication ceremony for a Peace Pole at the library’s front entrance. The pole was donated by the Rotary Club of Vancouver and Rotary District 5100, and reads “May peace prevail on Earth” in English, Russian, Spanish and Chinese. One of the areas of focus for Rotary International and local Rotary Clubs is peace and conflict prevention/resolution. A Peace Pole is an internationally recognized symbol and reminder that peace is possible.
