Woodland — Woodland Public Schools celebrated the end of the school year with a special staff luncheon, featuring the second Employee of Excellence Awards. The honorees at this year’s luncheon were D’Ann Horrocks from Woodland Education Association, Judy Lute from Service Employees International Union, Michelle McLaughlin from Woodland Secretarial Association and Cathy Nielsen from the Kalama-Woodland-Ridgefield-La Center Transportation Cooperative. Candidates are selected from nominations made by district staff and community members, and the honorees were picked by a small committee made up of district administrators and every union leader. This year’s awards also featured a new special video competition, where staff members were encouraged to form teams and create music videos for their favorite songs. The inaugural winner was a group of cafeteria workers who put together a video of them lip syncing Adam Sandler’s “Lunch Lady Land.”
