Camas-Washougal splits two games at Babe Ruth World Series

The Camas-Washougal 13-15-year-old Babe Ruth team split its two pool play games on Saturday at the Babe Ruth 13-15 World Series at Lawrenceburg, Tenn.

A day after rain wiped out the entire schedule, Camas-Washougal came out and lost its opening game 8-3 to Janesville, Wis.

Kolby Broadbent went 3 for 4 with an RBI single, and Jackson Gibbs was 1 for 3 with a two-run single. Tayler Shega was 2 for 4.

Camas-Washougal followed that up with a 4-0 victory over Bismarck, N.D.

Camas scored in the first inning, and then added three in the sixth. Stats from that game were not provided. Bismarck is now 0-2 in the pool.

Next for Camas-Washougal (1-1) is a matchup against Meridian, Miss. (0-2), at 3:30 p.m. (PDT) today. Pool play concludes on Sunday with Camas-Washougal facing the host team Lawrenceburg at 6 p.m.

The top three teams from the pool move on to single-elimination bracket play starting Tuesday.

Walla Walla Valley wins Northwest Regional, advances to LLWS

Walla Walla Valley Little League is headed to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.

Known in the tournament as Washington, the Walla Walla team won the Northwest Regional on Saturday, beating Oregon (La Grande) 4-3 in the title game at San Bernadino, Calif.

The last time Washington was represented in the LLWS was 2014 when Lynnwood Pacific qualified. Washington has won the regional six times in the last 10 years.

The Little League World Series starts Thursday.
