Letter: Don’t tolerate fascism

The occurrences in Virginia clearly demonstrate that our leaders are too tolerant of the neo-Nazis present in the U.S. Quiet for years, but obviously waiting for their time, they have emerged with encouragement by the president to incite violence and intolerance.

They are hateful, bigoted people. No, there are not two sides to this violence. One side is filled with racism and hate; the other is tolerant of immigrants and people of color. As citizens of the U.S., we need to stand up to white supremacists in whatever guise they appear: Nazi, KKK, “alt-right,” and, yes, Breitbart members, as well.

The president needs to immediately fire Steve Bannon and Steve Miller from their positions in the White House. They are hate-filled bigots. Listen up, America — fascism is on the rise and tolerance for fascism has increased. The tolerance has to end.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
