An estimated 129.6 tons, or 259,200 pounds, of nonperishable food and toiletries were collected Saturday through Walk & Knock, Clark County’s largest single-day annual food drive.

Another 10 tons were collected in barrels located at businesses and food pantries around the county, bringing the total to about 140 tons.

Anyone whose donations were not picked up from their doorstep can take them to one of these collection sites: walkandknock.org/barrels.

“We’re very pleased with the community’s response this year,” Walk & Knock President Justin Wood said in a news release. “It always amazes me to see all those people, from Cub Scouts to senior citizens, gathering, transporting and stockpiling tens of thousands of bags of food.”

The annual food drive has collected more than 8 million pounds of food for the Clark County Food Bank since it started in 1985.
