Brush Prairie — Hockinson High School’s developmental resource room hosted its annual Thanksgiving Feast on Nov. 17. The feast is a way for students in the resource room to show their appreciation for those who help them, from school staff to teachers to community work supervisors who welcome students into their businesses to volunteer and gain employment skills. The guests received turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, rice crispy bars and more, with most of the ingredients coming in thanks to donations by school staff members. One of the guests was District 3 Fire Chief Steve Wrightson, who was also on his last day as chief of the department. For years, Wrightson has welcomed students into the district for volunteer work. He was honored at the event with a banner and scrapbook filled with photos and notes.
