Letter: Moore support is repulsive

Regarding Stephen Franklin White’s Dec. 1 letter, “In defense of Roy Moore,” — are you kidding me? Yes, Justice Moore is simply accused, but several women have accused him of gross sexual behavior. Some were underage at the time he got his hands on them. Many of their stories are remarkably similar, suggesting decades of patterned behavior. It makes no difference that it happened 40 years ago, “over the clothes,” or within a “private dating relationship,” and to suggest these as excuses is an affront to women and to humanity.

White’s was one of the most repulsive, frightening and eye-opening letters I’ve ever read. It is made even more repulsive by the realization that he’s right: Moore continues to be supported by prominent Christians and congregations, which is beyond comprehension.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
