Ridgefield — The Ridgefield School District board honored its employee and students of the month for November at the Nov. 14 board meeting. Gregg Ford, a social studies teacher at Ridgefield High School, was named employee of the month. Ford, a teacher for the last 39 years, was honored for his dedication to students, including his availability to them before school and during lunch. Fourth-grader Katelyn Crouch was named Student of the Month at South Ridge Elementary School for showing that she is responsible in class, in school and in the community. Union Ridge Elementary fifth-grader Ashlynn Bredemeyer was honored for being a quiet leader, helpful friend and someone who leads by example in modeling the expectations of the classroom. Adaya Stewart, who is in eighth grade at View Ridge Middle School, was selected for her giving nature, as she frequently reaches out to new students to help them catch up on work and offers to help teachers with daily tasks. Ridgefield High School junior Ian Abrams was honored as Student of the Month for his 4.0 GPA, participation in National Honor Society and starting a peer-to-peer lunch time tutoring program.
