Letter: Tax bill even worse than you knew

There have been many informative and factual letters written to The Columbian regarding the Republican’s “cut taxes for the rich and screw the middle class” tax plan. I appreciate each and every one of them. They’ve said it all.

I can only add this sad fact: In the Senate version of the tax bill, there is a provision to open oil drilling in the largest wildlife refuge in Alaska, known as “America’s Serengeti” (www.alaskawild.org/americas-serengeti-needs-your-help). It’s tucked in this bill because it wouldn’t pass as a bill alone. Why do Republicans have to hide these things?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
