Letter: Herrera Beutler represents district

If one were to get all their information from the letters page in The Columbian, they might think that Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, was an out-of-touch fringe representative barely capable of serving. This orchestrated progressive attack ignores and attempts to hide the fact that she won the 3rd District with almost 60 percent of the vote in the last election.

I voted for her and will continue to vote for her so long as she continues to do as she has done in the past, stick to her principles, do her homework and vote as she has done to date — i.e., represent her constituency to the best of her ability.

This doesn’t mean that she has voted the way I would on every matter before the Congress. If I wanted someone who represented my interest all the time, then I would need to be in Congress myself. This is equally true for her critics. If you don’t like her principles, get out of your easy chair and run against her. You might find that the 3rd District is less liberal than you would like it to be.
