A drop in demand for gas late in the year led prices to fall in the past month.

According to AAA Oregon/Idaho, which tracks prices, prices have dropped 4 cents in Portland and Vancouver over the last month. Vancouver clocked $2.93 per gallon and Portland $2.83.

Prices dropped just about everywhere else in the past month, per the report. The national average is down 11 cents, to $2.45 per gallon, and the average for Oregon is $2.80, down 5 cents.

Spokeswoman Marie Dodds said the auto club expected the trend to continue through the season. Oregon and Washington, which averaged $2.95 per gallon, both remain in the top five most expensive states for gas.
