I must respond to the Dec. 8 letter, “Many provide help for homeless,” which referred to The Columbian’s story about the Proto-Cathedral of St. James the Greater (“Nourishing ministry of compassion,” Nov. 23).
To say that the church’s weekly meal to the homeless “pales in comparison” to other area churches and organizations responding to such needs diminishes the efforts of that organization to provide what it can for those who need it. Each organization provides valuable services based on space and manpower.
The letter’s headline said it right: many provide help for homeless. Thanks to St. James for its part. And thanks to all churches and organizations that are providing services for those in need. And, finally, thanks for highlighting where these services are available for those who may not know where they can find a warm meal and/or a bed for the night.
