Pedestrian struck by car remains in critical condition

The Vancouver woman struck by a car Wednesday afternoon in Orchards remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Sharina Luper, 39, was struck by a Volkswagen Passat while trying to cross Northeast Covington Road near Northeast 100th Avenue. She stepped into the path of the vehicle, which was heading south on Covington Road, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Luper was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. She remained hospitalized in critical condition Thursday afternoon, according to a hospital spokesman.

The Volkswagen’s driver, Nufar Tedorov, 78, stayed at the scene and cooperated with deputies, according to the sheriff’s office. Parts of Covington Road were temporarily closed.
