The death of a man whose body was discovered at an east Vancouver storage business last week was an accident, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

“During the investigation, detectives determined that the death was a result of a tragic accident,” Sgt. Brent Waddell said in an email.

The man was identified by police as 70-year-old Thomas Dunlap.

The sheriff’s office declined to offer more details about how the death happened.

Dunlap’s body was found at about 7:30 a.m. Dec. 15 in the parking lot of East Vancouver RV and Boat Storage.

Sgt. Fred Neiman previously told The Columbian the body was spotted lying on the ground in an open drive-thru area.

Responding officers deemed the death suspicious as they were unable to immediately determine Dunlap’s cause of death, Neiman said.
