A suspect in a Vancouver shooting was arrested and may face an attempted murder charge Wednesday after he shot at a man then led police on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash in Portland, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Vancouver police officers were called to 14417 N.E.  30th St. just after 10 a.m. for a reported disturbance with a weapon.

A domestic dispute between a woman and her boyfriend escalated when one of the woman’s male relatives intervened. The boyfriend, Edward Jackson Lowell, 47, allegedly grabbed a handgun and fired toward the man, according to Vancouver police.

No one was hit, department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said, and the man drove away.

Officers swarmed the area, and one caught sight of the vehicle heading west on Mill Plain Boulevard.

The police department said officers caught up with the vehicle as it traveled over the Interstate 205 Bridge into Portland.

The man crashed the vehicle — a tan Buick, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian — near the Killingsworth Street exit.

Portland officers arrested Lowell Edward Jackson, 47, pending charges of eluding police and possession of cocaine.

The Vancouver police said they plan to extradite the man pending the issue of an arrest warrant for attempted first-degree murder and fourth-degree assault.

The Vancouver police’s domestic violence unit was investigating.
