Catch the Battle Ground High School Drama Club performing “Almost, Maine,” before they take their performance to the annual American High School Theatre Festival this summer in Edinburgh, Scotland. This play explores love and loss in nine vignettes, all set in the small town of Almost, Maine, as pairs of characters fall in and out of love in the strangest ways. The performance begins at 7 tonight, with additional performances at 7 p.m. Feb. 9-11 in the Lair at Battle Ground High School, 300 W. Main St., Battle Ground. Dust off your uniform and grab a partner for the Sweetheart Hangar Dance 7 to 10 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Pearson Air Museum, 1115 E. Fifth St., Vancouver. Held in the style of World War II-era USO dances, music will be provided by the Vanport Jazz Band, plus hors d’oeuvres, no-host bar. Period dress and Class A uniforms encouraged (but not required).There will be a raffle and vintage valentines, jewelry, teddy bears and aviation items for sale, with proceeds benefiting education and interpretive programs at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. Clark College Theatre will take audiences to a world where a megacorporation controls the access to all toilets, in the satirical “Urinetown: The Musical.” People who break toilet laws are sent to a penal colony called “Urinetown,” never to return. When Bobby Strong’s father is arrested, he begins a pee-for-free rebellion, with the encouragement of Hope Cladwell, the daughter of the corporation’s CEO. “Urinetown: The Musical” begins at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17-18, 24-25 and March 2-4 at the Decker Theatre, Clark College,1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver. Bravo! Concerts Northwest presents “A Light in the Wilderness,” a concert featuring the sacred jazz of the acclaimed American pianist and composer Dave Brubeck. Hello Vancouver returns 7 p.m. Feb. 22 as the community talk show moves to a new location, Warehouse ’23, 100 Columbia St., Vancouver. Registration for the annual Blooms to Brew Marathon is now open. Held April 9, during the Woodland Tulip Festival, the event features a marathon, four-person marathon relay, a half-marathon and 10K run/walk on a flat course through the Woodland Bottoms, starting from Horseshoe Lake Park, Park Road and Lake Shore Drive, Woodland. The race post party will include microbrews and root beers. Proceeds will benefit the Scott Hill Park and Sports Complex. The marathon is also a Boston Marathon qualifying course.
