POST FALLS, Idaho — Police in Post Falls, Idaho, say one person has been killed after a train struck a car at the Spokane Street crossing in that northern Idaho city.

Police say a teenage girl who was a passenger in the car died in the incident early Tuesday morning.

Police Chief Scott Haug says the driver of the car was taken to a hospital.

Police believe the people in the car were driving to a school event.

There are no train warning lights at the intersection.

The Spokesman-Review says Spokane Street is expected to be closed for several hours.
