A mobile home north of Battle Ground was destroyed in an early morning fire Thursday.

Crews from Clark County Fire District 3 responded to the blaze, reported just before 6 a.m. at 17181 N.E. 259th St., north of Battle Ground Lake State Park.

Arriving firefighters found a single-wide mobile home fully engulfed in flames with the roof partially collapsed, Battalion Chief Jeff Stewart said.

Crews doused the fire, bringing the flames under control in about five minutes, Stewart said.

Crews remained on scene for several hours putting out hot spots. Although they originally did not know if anyone was inside the house, they eventually learned that the mobile home had been vacant. No injuries were reported.

Deputy Clark County Fire Marshal Dan Young said the fire’s cause was being investigated, but since the fire so thoroughly destroyed the building, it’s unlikely a definitive explanations for what happened will even be made.

“It was so far gone,” he said.

The home was a total loss, but an estimate for the cost of damages was not yet available, he said.
