LEGISLATIVE PAGE PROGRAM

Hunter Clark, a junior at CAM Academy, and the son of Rich and Darla Clark of Yacolt, and Amanda McShea, a sophomore at Cedar Tree Classical Christian School, and the daughter of Darren and Sharon McShea of Vancouver, recently spent one week working as a page for the state Senate in Olympia, sponsored by Sen. Ann Rivers, R-La Center.

Rachael Hammes, a student at Prairie High School, served as a page for the state House of Representatives. She was sponsored by Rep. Paul Harris, R-Vancouver.

Student pages deliver documents and messages between offices, attend page school to learn about parliamentary procedure and the legislative process, draft their own bills and engage in a mock session.

WASHINGTON STATE SCHOLASTIC ART & WRITING AWARD

Tatum Howlett, a senior at Ridgefield High School, won a Gold Key award in the Comic Art category in the Washington State Scholastic Art & Writing Awards program. Her entry was entitled “Bernadette & Raymond Get in Trouble.”

Howlett and other award winners were recognized at a reception on Sunday at the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle.
