In response to Katie Gillespie’s Feb. 11 story, “Growing our Future,” about the food summit on Feb. 10, it’s significant to give a shout-out not only to the organizers, but also to the local food and farm providers, restaurant owners and Clark College faculty experts who shared their knowledge, experience and passion as workshop leads, keynote speakers, and local food showcase participants.

We have it all here in Clark County and we learned that at this food summit. Thanks to Greene Jungle Farm for providing the beef, bacon, and eggs; Cloud Nine Farm for goat cheese; BakerChic’s for baguettes; Hunters Greens for Brussel sprouts, beets and squash; Bauer Farm for butternut squash; NW Nut for roasted nuts; Gifts of the Planet Farm for dried and fresh pears.

Let’s continue to support these local farms to sustain a healthy, thriving food system in Southwest Washington.
