Fruit Valley — Friends of the Carpenter, Vancouver’s homeless day center and woodworking shop, received a new ductless heating pump system through a grant-funded Clark Public Utilities energy conservation program. The heating pump, valued at $45,000, according to the organization, was installed by MetFab Heating and Cooling. “This is the largest in-kind donation ever received by our organization,” Tom Iberle, executive director, said. “The new system will provide heat in the winter for substantially less cost than our old system, as well as cool air in the summer for the first time ever in our building.” Each year, Clark Public Utilities conducts a survey to identify local agencies eligible for the grant-funded Community Energy Efficiencies Program to provide conservation measures at no cost.
