Multifamily, retail building proposed near downtown

VANCOUVER – A four-story building with ground-floor retail and multifamily housing has been proposed in the Esther Short neighborhood.

Markle Square, 1414 S.W. Markle Ave., would be more than 15,000 square feet, according to preapplication documents filed with the city of Vancouver. The quarter-acre lot is currently vacant.

The application does not mention the number of residences proposed.

Applicants are scheduled to meet with city planners at 10 a.m. Feb. 2, in the Alder Conference Room at Vancouver City Hall, 415 W. Sixth St.
