Vancouver woman, dog thrive at national championship competition

Salmon Creek — Shana Porter of Vancouver and her dog Keira, a field-bred English Cocker Spaniel, brought some trophies home recently, as Keira finished first in the Lap Master category at the American Kennel Club’s National Association of Diving Dogs National Championship in Orlando, Fla. Keira, who was bred by Salmon Creek Gun Dogs, won with a jump of 17 feet, 6 inches, and also earned a second-place finish in the Air Retrieve. Before the event, Keira was awarded a North American Diving Dogs 2016 Best of Breed certificate.
