Ideas for your weekend.

1. Luck in the New Year

It is the Year of the Rooster and the Vietnamese Community of Clark County will be celebrating with its annual Lunar New Year Festival. The festival, also known as Tet, will feature performances from local and professional artists, traditional dances — including the popular lion dances — along with children’s activities, Vietnamese food and more from 1 to 5 p.m. Jan. 21 at Roosevelt Elementary School, 2921 Falk Road, Vancouver. Admission is free. 360-882-7411 or www.vnccc.org

2. Sweet treats

Sweet, bitter, spicy and gooey, all will be represented at the annual Chocloatefest, which doubles as a fundraiser for the World Forestry Center. Attendees can try chocolate in all its forms from hundred of vendors, along with cooking demonstrations, educational presentations from chocolatiers and wine tastings. The festival is open 4 to 9 p.m. Jan. 20 just for those 21 and older, with general admission from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 21 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 22 for all ages. Oregon Convention Center, 777 N.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Portland. Tickets are $15, $12 for seniors, $10 for ages 13 and younger and $30 for VIP. http://chocolatefest.org

3. Rock the piano

It’s a Beethoven, Bach and Brahms spectacular, as pianist Orli Shaham and conductor Marcelo Lehninger join with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. The concert will feature Bach’s Suite No. 3, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8 and Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2. Lehninger is the music director of the Grand Rapids Symphony, while Shaham has performed with Philadelphia Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and more. The concerts begin at 3 p.m. Jan. 21 and 7 p.m. Jan. 22 at Skyview Concert Hall, 1300 N.W. 139th St., Vancouver. Tickets are $37 to $50, $32 for seniors and $10 for students. 360-735-7278 or www.vancouversymphony.org

4. Second star on the right

See Neverland through a new perspective during Heritage High School Theater’s production of the Broadway hit “Peter and the Starcatcher.” Performed in the style of story theater, 19 performers will play dozens of characters while telling the origin stories of Peter Pan and Captain Hook in a whimsically infectious way. The show begins at 7 p.m. Jan. 20-21 and 1 p.m. Jan. 21 at Heritage High School Auditorium, 7825 N.E. 130th Ave., Vancouver. Tickets are $10, $7 for ages 13 to 18, $5 for seniors and ages 12 and younger. 360-604-3400 or www.evergreenps.org/High-Schools/Heritage
