The police asked anyone with helpful tips to please come forward after a man who robbed a downtown Vancouver Wells Fargo bank branch Monday afternoon eluded officers.

According to the Vancouver Police Department, the man entered the bank, at 1800 Main St., around 4:30 p.m., and presented a note demanding money.

The man then left with the cash, and no injuries were reported.

Officers later stopped a vehicle seen leaving the bank at the time of the robbery.

Vancouver police Sgt. Aaron Gibson said the driver had stopped at the bank’s ATM around the time of the robbery. Officers found the vehicle and the driver were not involved.

“Poor guy,” Gibson said. “Wrong place, wrong time.”

A man robbed a Wells Fargo branch near the Vancouver Mall last Wednesday. Gibson said Monday evening it was too early to tell whether the suspect was the same, or if the robberies are connected.

Gibson encouraged anyone who may have helpful information regarding Monday’s robbery to contact the Vancouver Police Department.
