Letter: Common sense is lacking

Immorality collapses cultures. Christianity revealed rules of survival based on the very nature of humankind. Mankind flourished, especially in our U.S. Christian-based social system.

But legalized immorality destroyed the family, sent divorcees bloating the housing market, playboys into shack-up rotation, fatherless families causing delinquency, drug abuse and poverty, and female “cougars” breaking up still more families. And with abortions among our 300 million population now numbering a staggering 50 million since the 1970s, we puzzle over “decreased economic demand” and wonder who will support our jobs and our retirement, as though it’s a mystery.

The liberal answer is always to repeal more rules of morality natural to humanity, and raise taxes again to fix the consequences: the 1960s Great Society was to guarantee every ne’er-do-well an annual income (with your money), the 1990s was to end with every deadbeat owning their own home (with your money), now liberals will get every derelict to have medical insurance equal to your own (with your money), and meanwhile make us pay for still more abortions, and pay “marriage” benefits for gays who also avoid the decadeslong 24/7 child-rearing marathon. Is there anyone left with common sense?
