King’s Way Christian High School hired longtime area assistant football coach Tom Schroeder as its next head coach, the school announced Wednesday.

Schroeder spent the past 11 seasons as an assistant under head coach Jon Eagle’s staff at Camas, and before that, assisted at Skyview for eight seasons. With Schroder on Camas’ staff last fall, he helped lead the Papermakers to the Class 4A state title.

King’s Way athletic director Ted Buck praised Schroeder’s coaching philosophy to prepare, motivate and encourage student-athletes strive to be the best in football and away from the field.

“His football experience, knowledge of the game and celebrative nature will create a joyful and competitive atmosphere,” Buck said.

Schroeder inherits a King’s Way program that plays in the Class 1A Trico League and went 7-3 overall in its first official season of 11-man football lats fall. He replaces Colby Davies, who resigned last month after two seasons at King’s Way, including the 2016 seasons as head coach.
