The search for a 91-year-old Kelso man who has been missing since last week continued Wednesday, according to the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office.

Wilford R. “Ray” Johnson was last seen the morning of June 29 by his neighbors. Johnson’s family told officials that Johnson and his car, a silver Honda, were missing. When he hadn’t returned home by the next morning, last Friday, they reported he was gone.

His vehicle was found Friday in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in Skamania County east of Cougar.

The sheriff’s office said Johnson was reportedly seen at the Longview Dollar Store midday Thursday.

Searchers with the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office combed the area near Johnson’s vehicle for more then three days, but no signs of where he went were found. The search of the immediate area near his vehicle has been called off, the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office said.

A Cowlitz County detective met with relatives this morning. The sheriff’s office said there were no signs of foul play in Johnson’s case.

Johnson is 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds and has blue eyes and balding white and gray hair.

He often wears a Seabee hat, which Johnson is wearing in a photo the sheriff’s office shared.

The sheriff’s office said he’s considered fit for his age, but his family does not think he’d have driven to where his car was found.

The sheriff’s office asked those with information on Johnson’s whereabouts, or if they saw him at any point since the morning of June 29, to call 360-577-3092.

Callers may reference case No. A17-2008.

Tipsters who’d rather be anonymous can send a text message to the sheriff’s office using the Tip411 smartphone app.
