The Stevenson Community Library will close Monday for a remodeling project that is expected to take about three months.

Limited library services will continue at the nearby Skamania County Courthouse annex, said Amelia Shelley, executive director of the Fort Vancouver Regional Library District.

At the annex, 170 N.W. Vancouver Ave., patrons can pick up reserved items, return materials, check out Lucky Day books, read newspapers and magazines, and use Wi-Fi at the courthouse. Starting Wednesday, the annex library site will be open Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Skamania-Klickitat bookmobile also will be in the library’s west parking lot when it’s not on one of its scheduled runs.

The North Bonneville Community Library, 214 CBD Mall inside city hall, will extend its hours during the Stevenson remodel. Open regularly from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, it is adding service on Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Stevenson library activities and programs will continue at other sites, including Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 161 Lutheran Church Road, Stevenson; Hegewald Center, 710 S.W. Rock Creek Drive, Stevenson; Wind River Educational Center, 441 Hot Springs Ave., Carson; and the North Bonneville library.

The library district is hoping to reopen the branch in early October, Shelley said.

The Stevenson library, 120 N.W. Vancouver Ave., will be 50 years old this fall. The $400,000 remodel will result in more internet computers, and a refreshed collection of materials.

The remodel also will bring the restrooms up to Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility standards, Shelley said. Other upgrades include new seating areas, an expanded teen area and a new deck.
