Letter: Local libraries are great bargain

I’d like to encourage everyone in Clark County to take a closer look at the many programs and services our local library has to offer us.

When I moved here from a large, affluent Chicago suburb, I assumed I would have to live without the services I had there. I was surprised at the services of the Fort Vancouver Regional Library District. Our local library provides aid in finding jobs, researching grants, helping ESL patrons, and my favorite stitchery/therapy group meets there weekly.

The best service is the website. I can search every library in Clark County for any book, magazine, DVD, or audiobook by author, title, or subject and do it from my home computer any time of the day or night. All these resources are delivered to me at the Battle Ground library within days. Tech classes there will show you how to download books to your phone.

I appreciate the librarians who run this organization and I don’t know how to praise them highly enough. Our libraries are one of the greatest bargains we will ever see. I hope all the residents of Clark County will discover what they have to offer.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
