I was glad to see Jordis Jensen’s letter, “Keep voter information private,” on July 6. I was beginning to think I was the only one concerned about President Trump collecting voter registration information on every voter in the U.S.A.
Frankly, I think this has nothing to do with concerns about voter fraud, or at least that is a convenient means to an end. It is pretty widely believed that his accusations about voter fraud are a narcissistic fantasy at best. But it certainly is a convenient means by which to collect a valuable database of information. This could be used for any number of purposes to his advantage in the future. People say this information is “a matter of public record” anyway. Does that mean that any member of the public could receive an organized list from every state in the nation, just by requesting it? I doubt it.
Do we have to hand it over to Trump, so that he has information on every one of us at his fingertips?
