Weather Eye: Keep watering the garden, no precipitation in forecast

You couldn’t ask for better weather than our current pattern. Temperatures are near normal with no excessive heat.

It appears this weather will continue for some time with highs around 80 depending on the amount of marine air infiltration.

If you want cooler conditions, head to the coast. If you want hotter conditions, head to the mountains. There is no rain in sight.

Tuesday morning was on the cool side. Early morning low temperatures were in the 40s in outlying areas of Clark County. Phil Delany, above Dole Valley, reported a chilly low of 39 degrees.

We will be reaching one month without measurable precipitation in a few days. Keep watering your lawn and garden generously.

Just to show you how uniform and close to normal it was across the Evergreen State on Wednesday let’s take a look at some late afternoon temperatures. The Washington coast was 65 degrees, Puget Sound was 75 degrees, Vancouver was 80 degrees and east of the mountains it was generally in the low 90s. You can’t get any closer to average than that.

It seems like July is rolling along at a fast pace. We are in the dog days of summer and soon we will be watching the nighttime heavens for the Perseids meteors. There is so much to do locally and within a day’s driving distance, and we have the weather cooperating at its best.

So get out and enjoy these lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer as the tune goes. You will wish that summer could always be here!
