Bloodworks Northwest asks for donations

Vancouver – Bloodworks Northwest has issued an appeal for donors after its supply of Type O blood dropped 37 percent since the beginning of the month.

The supply of Type O — the most common blood type among people in the Northwest — is now 1,000 units below normal operating levels. Bloodworks Northwest supplies blood for both Clark County hospitals that is used for patients having surgeries, trauma care, organ transplants and cancer treatment.

The Vancouver Donor Center, 9320 N.E. Vancouver Mall Drive, Suite 100, is open Tuesday through Saturday. Donors can schedule an appointment by vising the website, schedule.bloodworksnw.org, or calling 800-398-7888.
